## Logistics: What It Is, Where It Came From and Where It Is Today

# Logistics is basically a way to manage the flow of resources (usually scarce) from point of origin to point of use.

The importance of logistics was highlighted during the two World Wars. Back then, logistics mainly involved delivering men and materials on the battlefield.

Needless to say, the world of logistics has come a long way since then, evolving and expanding along the way. Today, the logistics industry is worth over $700 billion in the US alone. This mammoth industry is the second largest employer of college graduates in the country.

From relatively simple albeit tedious management of transporting troops and tanks to the frontline, logistics has evolved into a highly sophisticated branch of management primarily utilized by businesses across the country and beyond. Inventory management, warehousing, transportation, distribution; these are few of the many aspects of modern logistics. Good logistics is invariably defined as that which minimizes time and money involved while maximizing safety, security and proper care of the goods being handled. This requires a lot of qualities on the part of logistics companies, ranging from industry insight to expert management. Adams Warehouse & Delivery excels at all aspects of modern logistics, providing topnotch solutions to small, medium and large businesses.
